Back in session

The big yellow bus came by today and took my kids away for the next 8 hours.  So, now what?  I had originally planned to clean house today, but I can do that later.  I'm just going to sit around and enjoy not being asked to get someone something for a while.

The oldest is in 6th grade now.  SIXTH GRADE!  In our school district that means it's his final year of elementary.  (I'm pretty sure everywhere else he'd already be in middle school or junior high.)  He also gets his first taste of changing classrooms this year.  Morning is spent with one teacher, after noon is spent with another.

The baby is in 2nd grade this year.  I guess she's not really a baby anymore but we'll still call her that forever, I'm sure.  She was very excited about it.  We'll see how excited she is when she doesn't get to eat between noon and 3:30.  She loves her food.  haha

15 more days

until school starts.  And I'm no where near ready to send my kids back.  I haven't bought half of what they need.  Plus, I really like sleeping in and staying up.  I'm so lazy.  If only I had a nanny to get the ready for school in the mornings.  Life would be good.  A housekeeper would make it perfect.  haha

August already

which means it's almost time for school!  This is the first summer since I've had school aged kids that I'm not ready for them to go back.  I usually don't make it through June. They've been (for the most part) well behaved.  They've also reached the age of staying up late AND sleeping in, which has been nice.  Except for the nights before I have to work.  I have trouble getting them settled down enough where I can fall asleep.

All in all, we've had a nice summer.  Now we just have to get our back to school shopping done and wait for the 24th (I think).

Cinnamon Toast Muffins

We've had this mix at work for a few months, but today I finally caved and bought it.

I just cooked them and I have to say, they're not too bad.  Especially since they have Andy Griffith on the package.  haha

It's no secret

that I hate working.  I'm lazy and I'm not ashamed to admit it.  I want to quit my job SO bad.  But I won't.  We could get by without the money because I don't make much.  But I like playing World of Warcraft.  And I like occasionally taking my kids to do something fun.  Neither of which would be possible (okay, I doubt we'd give up WoW) without that little extra every week.
So, I suck it up, and go to work 2 or 3 days every week.  And when we get short staffed, I go 4 or 5 days a week (and that's when I really start hating it).  Let's just hope we don't get short staffed anytime soon.
